Think you're going to find out that easily, Sporkers? Think again! More after the jump.
...Mr. Andrew Garfield to the meta(phorical? physical? invisible?) stage.
The Social Network's Andrew Garfield, apparently as befuddled as FilmSpork by his Oscar snub. |
Garfield's understated performance as Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network brought heart, humanity, and gravitas to a film chock full of caustic, insecure assholes, rich, entitled assholes, and assholes of the Justin Timberlake variety. (Side note: despite his desperate pleas to be taken seriously by the Academy, Timberlake's performance as Sean Parker was, in this humble girl's opinion, annoying and self-important.)
Although his soft brown eyes, Vidal Sassoon-worthy locks, and perfectly-symmetrical features no doubt enhance our sympathy for his character, it's actually Garfield's own asshole moment that cements the greatness of his performance. You know what I'm talking about: that final, cathartic confrontation between Saverin and his friend-turned-foe Zuckerberg at the Facebook headquarters. We're left cheering for Saverin, desiring to kick Parker in the nuts, and wanting Zuckerberg to enroll in therapy. Oh, and thanking our lucky stars that we'll be seeing much, much more of Garfield in the very near future.
